June 12 Concert | The Word Became Flesh
The Sacred Winds Ensemble looks forward to arriving in Hazard, KY this weekend (Lord willing) for their fifteenth annual summer residency as they present “The Word Became Flesh.” Based upon John’s Prologue (John 1:1-18) the program will feature works by John Mackey, William Schuman, David Maslanka, and J.S. Bach.
The Hazard residency follows a performance tour of the Louisville area. Hosted on the campus of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the ensemble met for a weekend of intensive rehearsals in preparation for two outreach performances. Walnut Street Baptist Church welcomed Sacred Winds for their morning worship service, including the group in a supportive role for the church’s worship program as well as featuring selections from upcoming program. This exciting collaboration was followed by a public concert at Alumni Memorial Chapel of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
The tour’s culminating event will be presented on Sunday, June 12 at 2:30 pm at The First Federal Center in Hazard, KY. All concerts are supported by the Sacred Winds Foundation and come complimentary to the public.
