2023 Summer Program: The Pilgrim’s Progress

The Sacred Winds Ensemble’s presentation of The Pilgrim’s Progress is now available for viewing.

This summer, the Sacred Winds Ensemble begins a five-year series featuring great Christian books. The goal is to create a needed and renewed interest in reading texts that give greater understanding to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the implications for how we are to live in light of the Christian faith. On June 11 and 12, 2023, the ensemble will present the first book in the series, John Bunyan’s classic allegory, The Pilgrim’s Progress. The work has never been out of print since its publication in 1678, and, to this day, it stands as a hallmark of the Christian faith and is still heralded by leading literary scholars around the globe as the single-most influential text written other than the Bible.

The summer concert will highlight ten stations that occur in Part One of the book accompanied by music that will give aural imagery to the story. Additionally, we will premiere the visual art work of Jason Sturgill who has been commissioned by the ministry to create a series of vignettes for each stage of the story. The concert will be presented on June 11 at 6:00 PM EST at Grace Baptist Church in Somerset, KY and on June 12 at 6:00PM CST at Scottsville Baptist Church in Scottsville, KY.
