Music Director
Scott Bersaglia
Scott Bersaglia is currently Assistant Director of Bands at Campbellsville University serving as Assistant Professor of Conducting, Music Director of the Chamber Winds program, as well as working with the university’s marching and concert bands. From 2005-2008, Bersaglia was Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Michigan where he was Associate Director of the Michigan Marching Band, Michigan Hockey Band Director, Conductor of the University and Campus Bands, instructor of instrumental conducting, and Faculty Advisor for Phi Mu Alpha. Most recently, Dr. Bersaglia completed a two-year engagement as Orchestra Conductor at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In 1997, Dr. Bersaglia founded the Sacred Winds Ensemble, a wind band that consists of more than 60 volunteer professional and paraprofessional musicians from across the United States and abroad. Undergirded by the exposition of Scripture, the ensemble presents programs of diverse musical styles and influences. Noted performance engagements include the Baptist Church Music Conference National Convention, the Kentucky Music Educators Association State Music Conference, and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2008, Sacred Winds Ministries, Inc. was founded to provide Christian outreach through the arts, music, and education.
Dr. Bersaglia is a frequent contributor to GIA’s Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series and has served as guest conductor and clinician throughout the Midwest and Southeast. He has presented clinics at the University of Kentucky, Campbellsville University, the University of Michigan Conducting Symposium, Kentucky’s state conference of the National Association for Music Education, and the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. He is a member of several professional organizations including the College Band Directors National Association, the Conductors Guild, the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, and the Kentucky Music Educators Association where he serves on the Board of Directors as Community Music Chair. He also holds honorary memberships in Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi.
A Kentucky native, Dr. Bersaglia received his Bachelors of Music Education from Morehead State University and the Masters of Music and Doctor of Music Arts degrees from The University of Texas at Austin. His conducting teachers include Jerry Junkin, Richard Miles, and Greg Detweiler. Dr. Bersaglia lives Campbellsville with his wife, Jennifer, and their daughters Isabella Matea and Emmaline Grace.
