June 12 Concert | The Word Became Flesh

The Sacred Winds Ensemble looks forward to arriving in Hazard, KY this weekend (Lord willing) for their fifteenth annual summer residency as they present “The Word Became Flesh.”  Based upon John’s Prologue (John 1:1-18) the program will feature works by John Mackey, William Schuman, David Maslanka, and J.S. June 6 concert

After an intense series of rehearsals, the ensemble looks forward to presenting their upcoming program, “The Word Became Flesh” at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary’s Alumni Chapel. The concert will begin at 7:30 PM EST on Monday, June 6, 2011.

2011 Summer Program

The Sacred Winds Ensemble will present their 2011 Summer Program, The Word Became Flesh, in Louisville, KY at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Convocation Hall at The First Federal Center in Hazard, KY. The program is based from John’s Prologue (John 1:1-18), and will feature music by Mackey, Schuman, Maslanka, Cook, and Bach and will include supportive commentaries by Daryl Cornett, Bill Haynes, Jarvis Williams, and Scott Bersaglia.

2011 Summer Program

“The Word Became Flesh” is a musical narrative based from the Apostle John’s Prologue. The program is divided into three parts: From Him: The Word of His Power (John 1:1-13); Through Him: The Glory of the Cross (John 1:14-15); and To Him: The Conquering King (John 1:16-18). Each section will also include a written commentaries by Daryl Cornett, Bill Haynes, and Jarvis Williams, respectively.
