How long have you been associated with Sacred Winds? 2001 (next summer will be my 10th year!!)
What is one thing you enjoy about being a part of Sacred Winds? The friendships and musicality of the group!
What is your most memorable experience with Sacred Winds? New Orleans!!! Everything about the tour was memorable! It was great to actually get to have conversations with the people I’ve been playing with for 9 years. It was incredible to get to share what we do with more people, too.
What would you tell someone who is attending their first Sacred Winds event? Be prepared for the unexpected. There is nothing like this ensemble and ministry anywhere. You will be amazed, inspired, moved, and emotionally drained at the end. (I am every year!)
Hobbies and other interests: I am a member of Halcyon Winds, a woodwind quintet formed while at UNCSA. We were the 2nd place national winners of the MTNA Young Artists Chamber Music Competition in the Spring of 2010. I love to read! The majority of my time is spent playing bassoon, though. I wouldn’t have it any other way!!! I am working on a DMA in Bassoon Performance and Pedagogy at CU-Boulder. My time these days is spent studying, researching, writing papers, or playing!
Other thoughts: I can’t believe I’ve been playing with the group for 10 years now! It seems so long ago that I had that conversation with Scott at KMEA about this “amazing group” he conducts in the summers. I am truly blessed and honored to be a member of this group and hope that I will be able to play with all of my friends for years to come.
